The Brenda H. Kaplan Music Fund was created as a tribute to my late mother, who believed in the healing power of music. She taught piano for 40 years in Fairfield, Connecticut. Her performing instrument was harp. Let me share a letter from one of her former students, Robin Schacter just a few weeks before losing her battle with cancer.
i was so reminded of your house where i struggled with piano lessons. (my mom made me take). i always loved your mom's neat penmanship as she would write my assignment in a my small notebook. she was a really nice lady and tho i was not very good at the piano, i was always fond of your mom. she knew i sucked at the ivory keys but she was always very pleasant and positive with my shy self...
Mom didn't care if her students were accomplished musicians. She cared if her students had fun. LOTS of fun. I hope the two of them are laughing it up in heaven.
